Our clients often ask us if patch tests are necessary, and the answer is yes, they are! Patch tests are essential for a range of reasons but, most importantly, are carried out for your safety. Read on as we reveal more about why you’ll need a patch test before having some of our treatments.
What is a patch test?
A patch test is when a small amount of product is put on your body. This is so you and your therapist can identify any allergies before you’re fully exposed to the product. As the test area will be small, if you were to react to the patch test, then you would only experience redness or slight irritation.
Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee about how your body will react, which is why a patch test is so important – if you have a reaction it will indicate that the products are suitable for your skin.
Why are patch tests so important?
People can be unaware of allergies, and our bodies can develop new allergies at any time! Reactions can include mild to severe irritation of the skin and possibly swelling. This is a situation we want to avoid and can only be prevented by doing a patch test!
We understand that it can be frustrating to pop-in and have a patch test 48-72 hours prior to enjoying a treatment, but please be mindful that we do this for your own safety and wellbeing.
To ensure the experience is as swift and efficient as possible, we have LVL patch test kits in reception which are quick and simple to use, available for collection at your convenience up to 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Which treatments require a patch test?
We patch test for the following treatments:
- Brow Tint
- LVL Lash Lift and Tint (the kit can be collected and taken home – we will need the card completed and you will need to bring it with you on the day of your appointment)
- Lash Extensions
Who needs to have a patch test?
New clients who haven’t visit the spa before will need a patch test. Regular clients will also need a patch test if they haven’t had the above treatments in the last six months.
